The operations of SAC for the processing of virgin coconut oil and essentials oils have spinned off into the MHEOC of today. The company employs a total of 29 employees. Eighty percent of the workforce is represented in its essential oil distillation plant in Catalunan about 100 kilometers from Davao City in Mindanao Island. The business office is located in Pasong Tamo Extension Makati City, the central business district of the Philippines. The infrastructure consists of two buildings, a warehouse, storage area for planting materials of essential oils and two one-ton capacity distillers. The product from the coconut processing plant owned by SODACO in Toril is marketed by MHEOCI as virgin coconut oil.
About ten-years ago, the Philippine government through the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) initiated a project on the production of essential oils in the country, however, three years after its inception, it was junked for reasons such as a short fund sources. The company was already committed to this project by making two large distillers and a plant facility in Davao City. Regardless of the government's position for the development of essential oils this project continued and its by- products marketed locally. With the demand for natural and health products today, MHEOCI will continue its venture into the natural oil business. |
